whew!

I finally got out of the house after 1 month of being asocial. I mean I did get out of the house but not to meet with my friends or anything else. The places I've been in the past month was : school, mom's house and dad's house. It was like torture. I felt isolated. I couldn't go out the first 2 weeks because it was the exam week and I had to study. The following 2 weeks I was at home resting, trying to recover from H1N1. I broke a personal isolation record. Today was the day I broke free. Firstly I went to my friend Gizem's place. We had tons of fun. We did a ready-set-cook show among ourselves and prepared the best lunch ever. We took some pictures of the concepts we created with poor materials. Then around 6 o'clock my dad came to pick me up with his motorbike. Dad's house is at the European side of Istanbul and Gizem's house is at the Asian side so we had to cross the Bosphorus Bridge. The sun was just setting while we cross the bridge and the view was amazing. The mesmerizing smell of the sea and the breathtaking silhouette of Istanbul was astonishing. It was a view to die for. Right after we came home we went out to eat. It was hard to find a place that I could eat anything I want (beacuse of the no-eating-insulin-raising-product diet) but we found the best place possible. We ate THE most delicious meatballs on earth and had a great time. I had time to talk to my dad about being a doctor. He told me that he doesn't want me to be a doctor but he also said that he wouldn't do anything to prevent me from being one. He told me that I'll start living my life (he means after med school is finished, when I start working) approximately 11 years after my friends do, it's hard for a woman to be a doctor (not in a discriminating way of course), at least being a surgeon and he told me the negative ways of being a doctor. If I become a doctor (an operator) I'll have to work on the weekends as well, my patients might call me anytime during the day or night, I might have to go to the hospital late at night because of an emergency etc. I already know these and I know the responsibilities of being a doctor. My dad said that most of his woman doctor friends are not happy with their jobs, they would choose another career if they could. But I'm not a quitter. I know what I want to do in the future. I want to do something I love. I don't want to be a pharmacist and try to sell medicine all day long, I don't want a desk job and sit all day long. I love biology and that's the direction I should go. I want to save people's lives no matter what. Wow. Aren't I so pumped up? :) I get this way when I want to proove something that I believe in. Anyway after dinner we walked around downtown and looked for the book I wanted to read for a while, Anthony Burgess's "A Clockwork Orange". We couldn't find it at the first place we went but they said we could find it in the music&book store at the mall right around the corner. We went there and bought the book, the movie of the book and the movie I wanted see for quite a long time "Frida". " 'Frida' chronicles the life Frida Kahlo(Salma Hayek) shared unflinchingly and openly with Diego Rivera(Alfred Molina), as the young couple took the art world by storm. From her complex and enduring relationship with her mentor and husband to her illicit and controversial affair with Leon Trotsky, to her provocative and romantic entanglements with women, Frida Kahlo lived a bold and uncompromising life as a political, artistic, and sexual revolutionary." (http://www.iwatchfilm.com/download-movie/Frida.html). Now I'll take a break reading Pride&Prejudice and read A Clockwork Orange. It is a short book and my Turkish teacher had told me that it was a fast-reading book so I guess I'll finish it in a short time. I'm dying to see the movie but I watch the movie after reading the book it's based on first (if there is a book of course). Wasn't that a long entry? Glad you read all of it. :) That's it for today, I better start reading the book. Bye for now!

Back from the doctor's

I just got back from the hospital. Don't worry it's nothing serious. It might be in the future but it's nothing important for now. 2 weeks ago I took a blood test. The results came last Monday and it turns out that my insulin is way above the limit. The doctors said that it might lead to diabetes. Diabetes is in my genes as well. My mom, my grandma and my great grandma has diabetes. So to reduce my chance for having diabetes, my doctor gave me a diet. It's nothing different from what I regularly eat but it's forbidden for me to eat anything that has sugar in it. My doctor said that I should stick to this list for quite a long time. I can easily do that but I'll miss chocolate...

Addiction

I counted my lip care products today. I have 62 lip care products of my own. Wow. I believe I'm addicted to lipsticks. Most of them have flavors. Their color doesn't matter for me I just like their taste. I've got coconut creme, coffee, rose, milk chocolate, honey, pineapple, Sprite, Coca-Cola, Fanta, dragon fruit, pink guava, candy floss etc. I even make mixuters of my own sometimes. I get a tiny cup, put a litte from each lipstick want, melt them in the microwave. When it melts completely I take it out and mix them with a teaspoon, put them in the refrigerator so it becomes solid. I wait for them to cool for half and hour and then...viola! My first trial had 10 different flavors of lipsticks in it. It mostly tasted like cranberries and it sparkled. I used it almost everyday until Lucky found it and ate it all... Mad dog, bad dog... Last year I thought that I should study chemistry in the future and make a lipstick company of my own but I eventually decided the best job for me is being a surgeon. In the future I'm sure that I'll spend half of my life savings to lip products. They say; "If you got it, flaunt it." maybe that's why I mind lip care so much... :)

Even though I'm a cold weather fan, I missed summer. The strange weather just makes me feel awkard; my mood continously changes for no specific reason. I miss scuba diving... My diving group goes scuba diving in winter as well but I can't attend the events because of school. I just found some cool photos my instructors took underwater. Hope you like them ;)

Strange things are happening. I'm starting to like mathematics. My Mom went to the first parent-teacher meeting last night and she told me ALL of my teachers made good comments about me. ALL of them. That's peculiar. I'm a good student, I know (I hate bragging as you can see;)) but I was really surprised when I learned what they said about me, even my maths teacher thinks that I'm a great stuıdent! Today the strangest thing happened at math. I concentrated on the lesson and actually understood our new topic. I even solved a question on the board, well the bell rang right after I did the first operation but I stayed at class and finished my work. I am absolutely proud of myself. I told that I hate my mathematics teacher before, but my notion has started to change. I think that he is a good and helpful teacher. I've got this bad habit of mine that I can't get rid of: if I don't like a teacher I automatically hate the course, my desire for learning dies. Maybe that's why my first math grade was low, I hope it increses during the term. I'm sure it will. Aren't I too optimistic today? I've been in a good mood today, wonder why? Perhaps it's all because of the strange weather...

I Hate School

I really hate school nowadays... I just want to sleep all day long instead of learining geography or math or history. (These are the the courses that I like the least, clearly) Even though I hate school mumbling these songs during the day keeps me awake during courses:

Cosy in the rocket - Psapp
Sing it back - Moloko
Strange love - Koop
Me gustas tu - Manu Chao

hope you like them ;)

Cosy In the Rocket

I've been thinking how "cosy" is spelled over the weekend. I googled it and I found a perfect answer in "mzinlalaland.blogspot.com". "Depends on which side of the Atlantic Ocean you live on, really. Cosy if you spell it the British way or cozy if you are American. Or Americanized." I'm a British accent fan so I decided to use it as "cosy". It turns out that I've got H1N1 and I've been resting for 10 days. It was just what I needed after the exhausting exam week. Even though I hate being ill I feel like I've been on vacation for 10 days. My fever didn't broke for 5 freakin days. It was 38.5 degrees Celcius in average. That's 101.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Pretty bad isn't it? I had to ly in my bed for 10 whole days so I decided that I should catch up on reading and catch up with Grey's Anatomy that I wanted to watch since the day it started. I don't know why I didn't watch it then, however I began watching it on the 3rd day of my "vacation". It's practically like an addiction now. (I'm watching season 2 now, I'm at the very beginning.) I wanted to be a surgeon since I've known myself and it excites me to even think about it. Cosy In the Rocket by Psapp is Grey's Anatomy's theme song and I love listening it. I don't like it just because it is Grey's Anatomy's theme song I just love those kind of songs and the lyrics take me away. While I'm listening to "cosy in the rocket" I close my eyes and I imagine myself : lying on a grass hill, my headphones on, eyes closed and listening to this particular song after a long tiring shift in the hospital I work in. I hope my simple dream comes true someday when I'm a surgical intern...
