this one's for you dad ;)

I've got nice news. Dad got me a new camera! It's a Canon EOS 500D. I'M LOVIN IT! Although he made me suffer a little, it was worth it. We had a little talk after he gave me my gift. A life lesson. My dad was actually going to get me this present for my birthday. I had been asking for it since school started. He told me why he made me wait.
You know the feeling; when you are waiting for something and you know exactly how long you are going to wait for it, day by day you get more and more excited during that waiting time. You sleep dreaming of it and even daydream of it. It is the only thing that you think about. When you get what you wanted, the ecstasy-like feeling lasts as long as the waiting time. Dad wanted me to deserve my prize. I would deserve it by waiting as long as possible. You were right dad, this is a lesson worth learning and don't worry I've learned it.
I just want you to know dad; you may think, for me, photography is just a desire that will pass; but it is not. It's one of my ways of expressing myself. Just like my passion for skiing. By the way, thanks again dad, I love you.
p.s. These are the very first photos I took with my brand new camera. The photos are not the kind you like dad, these were the best subjects I found at home.

steppin' to the bad side

The past 3-4 days was quite idle. I didn't do anything remarkable. I watched a gazillion movies and went to physical therapy bla bla bla... Tonight I took some different self-portraits with my uncle's Canon EOS 30D. They are quite wild, one of my feet stepped into the dark side while I was taking them...

I'm lovin' it

Istanbul snow

It's the 3rd and last day of the snow blizzard. It's been snowing for 3 days non-stop. Istanbul is all covered with a lovely shade of white. The snow is soft and dreamy, just as I like it. I want to lay on the ground and make snow angels, I will as soon as possible. I've been hanging out at my dad's since the day the blizzard started. I was with my friend Egecan most of the time, our houses are really close. We watched movies and had snowball fights. Pure fun. I wish it snowed like this all the time. By the way, I'm finally getting rid of my knee-brace! This is going to be a nice semester brake after all...

Today was the last day of the semester. 9th grade is halfway over now, that's a relief. I was so worried before I got my report card. I had gotten a 40 from the last math exam and I had studied for the exam for 4 whole days... Anyway I was so anxious I
couldn't look at my report card when I got it. When my friends told me my average was 4.47 my eyes popped out of their shells; I wanted to hug and kiss everyone in class but I couldn't even stand up cause of my leg.
I'm feeling so sad cause I can't go to Chamonix or ski. I would give anything to make my knee heal right now and go skiing, anything. I was so excited about this trip cause dad and I had had tons of fun last year at Courchevel... Every time I think about it I miss skiing even more. You may think I'm just exaggerating but I just looove skiing.
By the way the snow in Istanbul lasted for only one night. But a blizzard is expected tomorrow, looking forward to it!
Courchevel...

It's snowing now and everywhere seems white already! I was feeling a bit blue lately, cause of my knee and the cancellation of me and dad's Chamonix trip. Snow is what exactly what I needed. It made forgot about all my tinsy winsy troubles and the exams are over, I'm in the holiday mood already.
Mom and I made plans for the night. We're going to ly on our cosy couch, curl under cosy blankets, drink salep, eat chestnuts and watch the snow take over Istanbul.
